Former LG Chairman Benson Declares for House Seat in 2027

Engr. Dr. Humphrei Chukwudi Benson, the former chairman of Umuahia South Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, announced his candidacy for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections. In a statement released by the Enyioha Media Unit on Tuesday, Benson emphasized the need to establish state police as a strategic measure to combat insecurity in Abia State.

He expressed concerns regarding economic hardships and infrastructural deficits, pledging to address these issues if elected to the House of Representatives. Benson, who has a background in humanitarian work and education advocacy, committed to championing human rights, providing free primary healthcare for mothers and children, and ensuring compulsory basic secondary education.

He is affiliated with the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and served as the party's financial secretary in 2019. Chief Sir Toni Ezebuiro, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees, expressed confidence in Benson's leadership and urged party members to participate in ongoing membership registration efforts.
