Michael Aondoakaa Resigns from APC Ahead of 2027 Race

Michael Aondoakaa, the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as of March 28, 2026. Aondoakaa, who previously left the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC in 2015, announced his decision in a statement shared with journalists in Makurdi, Benue State.

He cited the need to reflect on his political journey and consult with family and political associates as reasons for his resignation. Aondoakaa expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had while serving in the APC and acknowledged the support of President Bola Tinubu and the leadership in Benue State, particularly George Akume, in shaping the party's political landscape.

Although he did not disclose his next political move, he called for calm and support from his constituents, indicating a potential interest in the 2027 governorship race in Benue State, following his previous unsuccessful attempt in the APC governorship primaries in 2022 against the current governor, Hyacinth Alia.
