Ogun Ex-Councillors Protest Over Unpaid Allowances

On Thursday, former councillors from Ogun State protested at the office of Governor Dapo Abiodun, demanding payment of their unpaid allowances from their tenure between 2016 and 2019 under former Governor Ibikunle Amosun. The protest involved 349 councillors who expressed frustration over the non-payment of statutory severance and furniture allowances, which have remained unpaid for seven years.

They carried placards with messages highlighting their plight and called for the governor's intervention. Hon.

Ajok Isola, a former councillor representing Igbogila Ward in Yewa North, lamented the financial crisis faced by the ex-councillors, stating that many have suffered health issues due to the lack of financial support. Other former councillors, including Kayod Olumid and Olufemi Biobaku, echoed similar sentiments, pleading for the governor to address their overdue payments.

They emphasized their dedication during their service and the ongoing hardships they endure due to the unpaid allowances.
