Fayose Supports Tinubu, Prioritizes Competence Over Loyalty

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, has publicly defended his support for Bola Tinubu, the current governor, asserting that his endorsement is based on competence rather than strict party loyalty. Fayose, a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), noted that his stance does not equate to anti-party activities, despite criticisms from party members.

He emphasized that prioritizing national interest over party allegiance is a normal practice in democratic politics. Fayose drew parallels with global political dynamics, suggesting that leaders in the United States often support candidates outside their party when they believe those candidates possess the necessary capabilities.

He further argued that it is undemocratic to expel members for differing opinions, especially on national issues, and maintained that leadership should be based on the support of a competent candidate rather than mere party affiliation.
