14 New Judges Sworn in at Federal High Court in Abuja

On Wednesday, Suleiman Amida Hassan, the former Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court, along with 13 other judges, was sworn in as judges of the Federal High Court in Abuja. The ceremony was officiated by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Keker Ekun, who described the oath taken as significant, stating that the decisions made by these judges would resonate far beyond the courtroom.

The appointments were made following a recommendation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and were approved by the National Judicial Council (NJC). The Chief Justice noted that the rigorous and transparent selection process included comprehensive background checks and professional feedback, ensuring that merit and integrity were prioritized.

She emphasized that the judges must accept the burden of impartiality, restraint, and discipline, as their roles are pivotal in shaping the judiciary's architecture and influencing various aspects of national life, including economic and regulatory matters.
