Oyebanji Appoints Five New Judges in Ekiti State

On a recent date, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji swore in five new judges to the High Court during a ceremony held in Ado Ekiti. This appointment is part of a strategic effort to strengthen the state's judiciary and accelerate the dispensation of justice.

Governor Oyebanji emphasized that the judiciary is a cornerstone of democracy and serves as the last hope for the common man. The appointments were made in accordance with Section 271(2) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the governor to appoint judges based on recommendations from the Nigerian Judicial Council (NJC).

The governor noted that the process was carried out in fidelity to the rule of law and in the best interest of justice. He highlighted the increasing socio-economic activities in Ekiti State, which have led to a rise in court cases, thereby necessitating the appointment of new judges to help decongest court dockets and expedite justice delivery.
