Cletus Named in HNK Rijeka Squad for Derry City Clash

Simon Cletus Karshe, the former captain of the Golden Eaglets, has been included in HNK Rijeka's matchday squad for their European Cup clash against Derry City of Northern Ireland, scheduled for Thursday evening. At just 18 years old, Cletus recently transitioned from Nigeria to Europe after signing his first professional contract with Rijeka, indicating his high regard within the club's technical staff.

Previously, he showcased his skills while training with the Flying Eagles under coach Abdul Maikaba, participating in friendly matches before returning to Rijeka for pre-season. Although there were plans for him to join the Flying Eagles for the WAFU B U20 Championship in Ivory Coast, Rijeka did not release him for the tournament, underscoring his significance to the team.

Reports suggest that Maikaba was considering making Cletus the captain of the Flying Eagles had he been able to attend the camp for the championship.
