Ex-ICAN President High Chief Oguntimehin Dies at 91

High Chief Simeon Olusola Oguntimehin, the former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), died peacefully on March 30, 2026, at the age of 91. His family, including his daughter Mr.

Omonik Omonubi, announced his passing, expressing gratitude for his life and service to the community. Oguntimehin held the revered title of traditional prime minister of the Ondo Kingdom and played a central role in preserving the customs and traditions of the ancient town.

He was known for his wisdom, diplomacy, and commitment to traditional governance. In the professional realm, Oguntimehin served as ICAN's president from 1995 to 1996, advocating for ethical standards and reforms within the accounting profession.

He was also a board member of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission from 2007 to 2011, contributing to efforts aimed at improving transparency in public institutions. His contributions to Nigeria's financial sector and traditional leadership have been widely recognized, and tributes have poured in following his death.
