Nigerian Football Legend Henry Nwosu Dies at 61

Henry Nwosu, a celebrated former Nigerian football international and member of the victorious 1980 Africa Cup of Nations squad, passed away at the age of 61. His death was announced by Chief Adegboy Onigbinde and Segun Odegbami.

Nwosu died in the early hours of Saturday at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, where he had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit. He had been hospitalized for several days, battling illness before succumbing to his condition.

Odegbami expressed deep sorrow over Nwosu's passing, highlighting his significant contributions to Nigerian football. Nwosu was widely regarded for his talent and played a crucial role in Nigeria's triumph in the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations, which marked the country's first continental title on home soil.

He was remembered as one of the youngest members of that historic squad.
