Ex-Super Eagles Star Henry Nwosu Dies at 62

Henry Nwosu, a former midfielder for the Super Eagles, passed away at the age of 62 on Saturday morning after spending five days in intensive care at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja. His death was announced by his former teammate Segun Odegbami, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a football icon.

Nwosu was a celebrated member of Nigeria's 1980 Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad, known for his vision, creativity, and technical skills on the field. Following his retirement from active football, he became a prominent figure in Nigerian domestic football, contributing as a coach and mentor to younger players.

His passing is a significant loss to Nigerian football, as he was regarded as an influential figure in the sport. Adegboy Onigbind, who led Nigeria to the 2002 FIFA World Cup, was also a prominent member of the 1980 squad alongside Nwosu.
