Mukhtar Yero Wins APC Ticket for Kaduna North Senate

Mukhtar Ramalan Yero emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for the Kaduna North senatorial district, held in Zaria on a Monday. Yero secured 6,060 votes, defeating Muhammad Mu Azu Mukadda, who received 1,044 votes, and Yusuf Bala Ikara, who garnered 372 votes.

Following the announcement of the results, Hassan Saleh returned to office and certified Yero as the winner. Yero expressed gratitude to party members and stakeholders for their support, urging unity among party members as they prepare for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

He emphasized his commitment to providing quality representation and reciprocating the confidence shown in him. Yero previously served as the governor of Kaduna State from December 15, 2012, to May 29, 2015, after becoming governor following the death of former governor Patrick Yakowa in a helicopter crash.

He had lost the 2015 governorship election to Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai.
