Dr. Yahaya Oloriegbe Declares for Kwara Governorship Race

Dr. Yahaya Oloriegbe, a former senator who represented Kwara Central in Nigeria's 9th National Assembly from 2019 to 2023 on the platform of the Progressive Congress, has formally declared his intention to run for the governorship of Kwara State in the 2027 elections. His announcement took place in Ilorin on a Friday, where he addressed stakeholders and party loyalists, emphasizing that his decision was not driven by personal interests but by a commitment to serve the people of Kwara.

Oloriegbe highlighted the importance of experienced leadership, stating that the state requires stability and a structured approach to governance. He outlined a five-point agenda focusing on security, economic productivity, healthcare, and the empowerment of youth and women.

Oloriegbe, who has a background as a medical doctor, likened the state’s situation to a recovering patient needing sustained structural interventions to achieve stability and progress.
