George Weah to Keynote NBA 2026 Conference in Port Harcourt

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) announced that former Liberian President George Weah will deliver the keynote address at its 2026 Annual General Conference, scheduled to take place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Abdul Muhammed, SAN, Chairman of the conference’s planning committee, stated that Weah's selection reflects the NBA’s commitment to enhancing discourse on critical issues under the theme "Beyond Limits." George Weah served as the President of Liberia from 2018 to 2024 and is notable for being the first African footballer to win the Ballon d’Or, FIFA World Player of the Year, and African Footballer of the Year in 1995.

His presidency was marked by significant actions, including a 25% salary reduction for himself and policies aimed at improving education access. Weah is recognized for his principled decision to step down after a close election in 2024, reinforcing his reputation as a model of good governance.

The conference is particularly significant due to the upcoming 2027 general elections, which are seen as pivotal for Nigeria's political and economic future.
