Ex-Major General Mohammed Appeals to Supreme Court

Ex-Major General Mohammed is appealing to the Supreme Court after a split decision from the Appeal Court on February 9, 2026. His appeal follows a partial success against a conviction by a Special Court Martial, which found him guilty of misappropriating funds belonging to the Nigerian Army.

The Special Court Martial, convened at the Army Headquarters Garrison, sentenced him for alleged financial misconduct involving a private limited liability company linked to the Nigerian Army, where he served as managing director. Mohammed's legal team argues that the trial was marked by irregularities and likened his situation to a famous remark by former Minister of Transport Alhaji Umaru Dikko regarding accountability.

They contend that he was unfairly prosecuted based on directives from superior officers. Despite the absence of a restitution order from the court martial, Mohammed has filed a motion seeking leave to appeal to the Supreme Court, aiming to nullify part of the Appeal Court's judgment.

His legal team has not commented on the ongoing developments, which remain sub judice.
