Chidimma Adetshina's Deportation Battle Continues in Court

Chidimma Adetshina, a 25-year-old former Miss Universe Nigeria, returned to a South African court on Thursday to continue her deportation battle. Adetshina was arrested in Cape Town in June for allegedly residing in South Africa without valid immigration status.

During the hearing, she filed an affidavit detailing her efforts to regularize her status in the country. The court adjourned the matter until Monday to allow the South African government to file its response.

Adetshina's legal troubles stem from a citizenship controversy that gained public attention during her participation in the 2024 Miss South Africa pageant, which led to widespread debate and her withdrawal from the competition. She later won the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria pageant and represented Nigeria at the Miss Universe competition, finishing as the first runner-up.

Her citizenship status is under scrutiny, with allegations of fraud related to her immigration documents. The court is expected to continue hearing the matter on Monday.
