Khamisu Mailantarki Declares Gombe Governorship Ambition

Khamisu Mailantarki, a former member of the House of Representatives, has officially declared his ambition to run for the governorship of Gombe State in the 2027 elections. He made this announcement at the People's Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat on Monday.

Mailantarki, who previously represented the Gombe Kwami Funakaye Federal Constituency in 2011 and contested again in 2023, is now seeking the gubernatorial position under the platform of the New Nigeria People's Party. Adamu Bappa, a representative of Mailantarki, highlighted his proven track record and performance, stating that the people of Gombe, particularly in Gombe North, are aware of his contributions.

Mailantarki expressed confidence that, with the PDP's support, he would bring necessary development to the state. The PDP state chairman, Major General Abnor Kwaskeb (retd), received Mailantarki's formal notification of intent to contest.

Additionally, two other aspirants have shown interest in the governorship race, and there is a call for unity among candidates to ensure a credible process for the party's nomination.
