APC Aspirants Reject Candidate Imposition Ahead of 2027 Poll

Former House of Representatives member Abdulrazak Namda, alongside APC aspirants Sani Shinkafi and Ayo Aris, has voiced strong opposition to candidate imposition within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for the 2027 elections. Namda, who previously served as chairman of the House Committee on Army, submitted his nomination form and emphasized that imposition would not succeed in Adamawa State.

He stated that the APC leadership, including President Bola Tinubu and National Chairman Nentaw Yilwatda, assured aspirants that there would be no imposition of candidates. Shinkafi, who is contesting for the Zamfara North senatorial district, called for direct primaries, arguing that the current system has failed to deliver effective representation.

Ayo Aris, seeking to return to the Senate for Ekiti North, also rejected candidate imposition, advocating for a transparent primary process. The APC began selling nomination forms on April 28, with the process expected to close by midnight on May 6, ahead of the elections scheduled for January 16, 2027, and February 6, 2027.
