Former RTEAN Chairman Arrested for Assault Leading to Death

The Ekiti State Police Command arrested Rotimi Olabiowonu, a former chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, and Opeyemi Adedoyin for their alleged involvement in the assault and abduction of 45-year-old Sunday Ogunsakin, who subsequently died. The incident, linked to a land dispute, occurred around 8:45 PM on Monday when Olabiowonu and five accomplices reportedly arrived at Ogunsakin's residence in a Toyota bus.

They allegedly dragged Ogunsakin from his home, assaulted him, and forced him into the vehicle. While in transit, the suspects reportedly pushed Ogunsakin out of the moving vehicle, resulting in severe head injuries.

After realizing the gravity of his condition, they took him to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Following the incident, police launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of Olabiowonu and Adedoyin, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, has mandated a thorough investigation into the case.
