Ex-Senators, 17 LG Chairmen Defect from APC in Jigawa

In Jigawa, a significant political shift has occurred as 17 former local government chairmen and ex-senators have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC). This mass defection is attributed to growing dissatisfaction with the party's internal management and the marginalization of influential stakeholders, particularly concerning the strained relationship between Governor Badaru Gerawa and his predecessor, Isa Gerawa.

The defection includes notable figures such as Nakudu, who contested the APC governorship ticket against Namadi during the party primaries. The relationship between Badaru and the former governor has reportedly deteriorated, leading to tensions within the party.

The crisis has also affected the governor's ability to appoint aides, with several political appointees resigning from their positions. Among those who left are two special advisers and six senior special assistants, citing dissatisfaction with the party's direction.

This development poses a potential threat to the party's grassroots structure in the state.
