Ex-UNICAL VC Akpagu Resigns from ADC Amid Legal Issues

Akpagu, who served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar from 2015 to 2020, has officially resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His resignation was prompted by ongoing unresolved court cases and legal uncertainties surrounding the party, which he deemed necessary to address by leaving.

The resignation letter, dated April 26, 2026, was shared with journalists in Calabar, Cross River State. In the letter, addressed to Pastor Emmanuel Ugar Ugwakong, the ADC chairman of Ipong Ward in Obudu Local Government Area, Akpagu expressed gratitude for the support he received from party members during his time with the ADC.

He did not disclose his future political plans in the letter, indicating that the decision followed consultations with family, friends, and associates regarding the legal issues affecting the party.
