Kabir Marafa Defects to NDC from ADC Amid Legal Concerns

Kabir Marafa, the former senator representing the Zamfara Central Senatorial District, officially defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on April 8, 2026. This marks his second party switch in less than a month, having previously left the Progress Congress on August 28, 2025.

Marafa expressed his concerns regarding internal litigations within the ADC, which he felt limited his ability to contest elections effectively. He emphasized the urgency of his decision due to impending electoral deadlines and the uncertainty surrounding ongoing court cases affecting the ADC.

Upon joining the NDC, Marafa received a membership card and was welcomed by NDC leaders, including Seriake Dickson, who highlighted Marafa's extensive political experience and potential to mobilize grassroots support in Zamfara. The NDC aims to provide a credible alternative platform focused on inclusivity and service delivery as the next electoral cycle approaches.
