Tech Innovations to Boost Nigeria's Deepwater Oil Exploration

At the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) monthly technical meeting held in Lagos, Mr. Dag Helland Hansen discussed the potential of Controlled Source Electromagnetic (CSEM) technology to de-risk Nigeria's deepwater oil exploration.

He emphasized that CSEM can transform outcomes by measuring subsurface resistivity to detect hydrocarbon saturation, unlike traditional seismic methods. This technology is expected to lower exploration risks, making projects more bankable and financially attractive to investors.

Mr. Olajumok Ajayi, President of NAPE, highlighted the critical role of advanced data processing technology in unlocking Nigeria's untapped deepwater hydrocarbon resources.

Dr. Anthoni Ofoma, NAPE President-elect, stressed the importance of precise subsurface imaging to optimize value.
