Police Forward Slain Delta Youth Case to AGF for Prosecution

The Nigeria Police Force has formally forwarded the case file of slain 28-year-old Mene Ogidi from Effurun, Delta State, to the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) for prosecution. This decision was confirmed by police spokesman Anthony Placid during a press briefing at police headquarters in Abuja.

The case follows the dismissal of three officers implicated in the unlawful killing, as recommended by a three-member investigative team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Nuhu. The investigation, initiated on April 26, established that the officers' actions constituted professional misconduct and a breach of public peace.

The incident involved Ogidi, who was shot after being apprehended as an unarmed suspect during a police operation related to a parcel containing a firearm and ammunition. Placid emphasized that the police do not shield officers who violate the law and assured the public that justice for the victim's family will be pursued.
