Police Transfer Killer Officers for Prosecution in Nigeria

The Nigeria Police Force has officially handed over officers implicated in the extrajudicial killing of Mr. Mene Ogidi, an unarmed civilian from Effurun, Delta State, to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) for prosecution.

This action follows the ratification of their dismissals by the Police Service Commission (PSC). The PSC's decision marks a renewed commitment to accountability within the police force, emphasizing that due process will be followed to ensure justice is served.

The leadership of the police ordered the immediate dismissal of ASP Nuhu Usman and other officers involved in the incident, which was confirmed by DCP Anthoni Placid. The police have stated that the case file will be formally forwarded to the AGF's office for prosecution, and they will cooperate fully to ensure the matter is resolved in court.

The police also reassured the public that no officer is above the law and expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
