ExxonMobil Launches $1bn Usan Infill Project in Nigeria

Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (Offshore East) Limited, a Nigerian affiliate of ExxonMobil, has announced the arrival of the Noble Gerry de Souza, an ultra-deepwater drillship, in Nigerian waters. This event signifies the commencement of the $1 billion Usan Infill Project, aimed at enhancing oil production from the Usan Field located in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 138.

The project is projected to deliver an additional 40,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil within 18 months, contributing to Nigeria's energy security and economic development. Jagir Baxi, Chairman and Managing Director of ExxonMobil affiliates in Nigeria, stated that this marks a new chapter for the Usan Field, emphasizing the company's commitment to disciplined investment and operational excellence.

The project is a result of extensive planning and collaboration among multidisciplinary teams and is designed to maximize recovery from existing infrastructure while ensuring safe and responsible operations in partnership with government stakeholders and regulators.
