Lagos Tops FAAC Revenue Rankings in H1 2026

In the first half of 2026, Lagos State emerged as the largest recipient of federation account revenue in Nigeria, collecting N365.78 billion, which represents a 54.39% increase from N236.92 billion in H1 2025. This significant rise, attributed mainly to Value Added Tax (VAT), allowed Lagos to surpass traditional oil-revenue states, moving from third to first position.

Lagos received N344.06 billion in net VAT allocations, alongside N10.91 billion in statutory revenue, N3.31 billion from the electronic money transfer levy, and N5.05 billion in non-oil revenue augmentation, totaling a gross allocation of N476.59 billion. In contrast, Delta State, which was the largest beneficiary in H1 2025, fell to second place with N331.43 billion, while Rivers State dropped from second to third with N295.99 billion.

Despite Lagos' growth, oil-producing states continue to dominate derivation revenue, with Delta, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Ondo collectively receiving over N707.32 billion in H1 2026.
