FAAN Warns Passengers Against Unruly Behaviour at Nigerian Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) issued a warning on August 11, stating that it would strictly enforce sanctions against disruptive passengers at Nigerian airports. The statement, signed by FAAN's Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, urged travelers to be familiar with their rights and airline obligations to avoid penalties outlined in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 17 and Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations.

FAAN also mentioned that they are reviewing protocols for restraining and prosecuting offenders in line with approved security programs and relevant laws. This warning came after an incident at the Lagos Murtala Muhammed Airport involving a passenger from Ibom Air, who was taken into custody by Aviation Security officials for investigation and prosecution.

FAAN emphasized the importance of passengers conducting themselves civilly and following established regulations to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of all airport users. This warning follows a report of a passenger from Ibom Air, Comfort Emmanson, allegedly assaulting.
