Ibom Air: Obi Condemns Selective Justice As FAAN Vows Sanctions Against Disruptive Passengers

Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, criticized what he called selective justice in the handling of the Ibom Air passenger incident. The passenger, Comfort Emmanson, was accused of assaulting a crew member and was remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos.

Obi argued that the treatment of Emmanson, including being stripped and dehumanized, was unnecessary and highlighted a double standard in the justice system. He pointed out the case of musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, who obstructed an aircraft but faced no charges.

Meanwhile, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has vowed to impose strict sanctions on disruptive passengers to ensure safety and orderliness in airline operations. FAAN emphasized the importance of maintaining safety at all times and called for equal justice for all individuals, regardless of their influence or status.
