Unruly Behaviour of Air Passengers

The unruly behavior of air passengers in the aviation sector has become a concerning trend, with incidents of fights and disruptions occurring both within and outside Nigeria. A study by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed this phenomenon, attributing it to possible provocations.

Industry stakeholders, including officials from Kotoka International Airport in Ghana, emphasized the need for strict monitoring of passenger behavior to prevent disruptions during flight operations. Nigerians traveling overseas have been noted for their fastidious conduct on foreign airlines, contrasting with their behavior on Nigerian carriers.

Former aviation industry executives highlighted environmental factors and the lack of discipline in the country as contributing to the unruly behavior of Nigerian air travelers. Proper crisis management and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) were identified as crucial in handling such incidents effectively.
