Atiku Abubakar Alleges External Influence in ADC
• Naijanews • Politics
Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has made allegations against Nafiu Bala, the factional chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), claiming that Bala is now moving with a heavy security convoy akin to that of a state governor. During an interview with DW Hausa, Atiku suggested that this sudden change in Bala's lifestyle is indicative of external sponsorship, particularly from the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He expressed concern over the growing influence of external interests that may be undermining the ADC's stability and popularity across the country. Atiku noted that despite the internal crises and challenges faced by the party, it continues to attract a significant number of young Nigerians. He also highlighted the recent decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to derecognize the ADC, linking this to external interference aimed at weakening the opposition party.
