Defence Minister reveals being targeted in foiled coup plot against President Tinubu

He emphasized the strict merit-based promotion system in the Nigerian armed forces and the impossibility of executing a coup in modern Nigeria. Musa dismissed claims that the plot was linked to dissatisfaction with the current administration, stating it predates Tinubu's inauguration.

Former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva was reportedly implicated in the coup plot and remains abroad amid investigations. Musa stressed the importance of thorough investigations to prevent innocent individuals from being wrongly indicted.
