Falconets Draw 1-1 with South Korea Before World Cup

On Tuesday, Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, played to a 1-1 draw against South Korea in their final international friendly ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland. Mary Mamudu scored the opening goal for Nigeria in the 29th minute at the Remes Sports Leisure and Spa Stadium.

The Falconets maintained their lead until half-time, but South Korea equalized in the 78th minute through a penalty. This match followed Nigeria's earlier 1-0 victory over hosts Poland, also with Mamudu scoring.

Head coach Moses Aduku stated that the team completed their preparations without any injury concerns and expressed confidence in their readiness for the tournament. He emphasized the importance of taking one match at a time, starting with their opening game against Spain on September 7.

The Falconets will also face China PR on September 10 and conclude their group-stage campaign against New Caledonia on September 13.
