Super Falcons' Ghana Friendly Canceled Ahead of WAFCON

The Super Falcons of Nigeria encountered a setback in their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as their scheduled friendly match against Ghana's Black Queens was called off due to unforeseen circumstances. The match was set to take place on July 18 at Stade El Arbi Zaouli in Casablanca.

The cancellation was confirmed by the Super Falcons' official account. Head coach Justin Madugu had anticipated this friendly as a valuable test for his squad ahead of the tournament.

The Super Falcons are the defending champions, having won the title ten times, and are aiming for an unprecedented 11th title in Morocco. They are drawn in Group C alongside Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt, with their first match against Malawi on July 28.

The tournament runs from July 19 to August 8, and four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
