Four Family Members Die in Kwara Building Collapse

On Tuesday morning, a three-storey building collapsed at No. 41 Popo Giwa Street, beside Gogoro Mosque, in Ilorin, Kwara State, resulting in the deaths of four family members. The incident occurred around 5 am, with eight family members initially trapped under the rubble.

Abdulganiy Musa, an eyewitness, reported that the father was a serving soldier and the mother worked at the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies. Emergency responders, including the Kwara State Fire Service, were deployed to the scene, where an excavator was later used to assist in the rescue efforts.

Lawal Olohungbebe, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, represented Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and expressed condolences to the victims' families. He emphasized the importance of accessible roads for emergency response.

The Kwara State Fire Service confirmed four fatalities and four survivors, highlighting the collaborative efforts of various agencies in the rescue operation.
