Family Seeks Court Order for Walida's Release from DSS

The family of Walida is pursuing a court order to stop the Department of State Services (DSS) from investigating the alleged abduction of Walida by its officer, Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi. They seek her immediate release and a reunion with her family.

The plaintiff's counsel, Kabir Adamu, requested that the court transfer the suspect to the Jigawa State Police for further investigation. The case, presided over by Justice Hassan Dikko, has been adjourned to March 26, 2026, for preliminary objections.

Walida was reportedly abducted in 2023 in Hadejia, Jigawa State, and has since given birth to a baby girl in November 2025. The family claims she was 16 at the time of her abduction, while the DSS claims she is 22, citing a birth certificate issued by the National Population Commission.

The family insists the certificate contains errors. The case highlights serious violations of Nigerian law and international human rights standards.
