Femi Fani-Kayode Appointed Nigeria's Ambassador to South Africa

Femi Fani-Kayode has been redeployed as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Africa, as confirmed by a press statement issued on Thursday. This redeployment was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following a request made by former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar.

Fani-Kayode expressed discomfort living in Germany and preferred to serve in South Africa, a country he believes shares similar values with Nigeria and is significant in African affairs. Tuggar noted that the request was favorably considered by the President.

Fani-Kayode thanked Tinubu and emphasized his eagerness to serve in South Africa. The announcement also addressed rumors regarding Germany's rejection of Fani-Kayode's nomination, which were described as false and malicious.

The Nigerian government plans to initiate legal action against those spreading defamatory claims about Fani-Kayode's appointment. The formal agreement for the redeployment was sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 13.
