Farmers Donate ₦150m to Support Gov Bago's Re-election

Farmers across Niger State have rallied behind Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, donating a total of ₦150 million to support his re-election bid with the All Progressives Congress (APC). This significant amount was raised through contributions from ordinary farmers, with many donating between ₦1,000 and ₦2,000.

Governor Bago noted that this financial support demonstrates strong grassroots confidence in his administration and its agricultural policies. He submitted the APC nomination form with ₦50 million from the donations, while ₦100 million remains available for ongoing fundraising efforts.

Bago emphasized the importance of internal democracy within the party and the need for a transparent electoral process. He also highlighted recent federal support for the agricultural sector in Niger State, including a visit from First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who launched the distribution of farming equipment for the 2026 farming season.

Bago aims to build consensus among party aspirants and is prepared for direct primaries if necessary.
