Niger Farmers Raise ₦150m for Bago's APC Nomination

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago revealed that farmers across the state collectively raised ₦150 million to support his re-election bid under the All Progressives Congress (APC). This fundraising effort, which included contributions as small as ₦1,000 and ₦2,000, reflects strong grassroots endorsement of his administration.

Bago disclosed that ₦50 million was used to purchase the APC nomination form, with ₦100 million remaining for ongoing contributions. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promoting discipline and transparency within the party's electoral process.

Bago noted that the financial support from farmers is a significant aspect of their political journey, especially after facing financial hardships. He attributed this support to improvements in agricultural policies and government intervention programs.

Additionally, he referenced recent federal support for agriculture in the state, including a visit from First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to launch the distribution of farm equipment for the 2026 farming season. Bago also mentioned collaboration with NIMET and NEMA to strengthen disaster preparedness in agriculture.
