Fayose Inaugurated as REA Board Chair, Promises Change

On Friday, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose was inaugurated as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) by the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, in Abuja. Alongside Fayose, Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar, Mr.

Ilyasu Makinta, and three others were appointed as board members and non-executive directors, while Mr. Abba Aliyu was inaugurated as the Managing Director.

Fayose expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the appointment and committed to elevating the agency's performance by securing necessary funding for both short- and long-term programs aimed at expanding electricity access for Nigerians. He emphasized the importance of addressing grassroots challenges in the power sector and assured Nigerians that the board would strive to meet their expectations.

Minister Tegbe noted the shift in Nigeria's electricity sector focus from merely measuring kilowatts to assessing community access to electricity, highlighting the REA's strategic role in enhancing economic inclusion and national prosperity.
