Tear Gas Disrupts Vote Counting in Kuje Elections

During the FCT Council elections, vote counting at the Kuchaku polling unit in Kuje was disrupted by the discharge of tear gas, which triggered panic among voters. This incident occurred shortly after ballot counting began, as armed men allegedly linked to the Progressive Congress (APC) stormed the polling venue.

They reportedly seized electoral materials, including the councillorship result sheet, while individuals arrived to assist in computing the results. The tear gas discharge caused significant confusion, leading many voters to flee the area and temporarily halting the counting process.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigeria Police Force were present at the scene when the incident occurred, but the situation escalated rapidly, as captured in videos circulating online.
