Kuje Election Results Collation Resumes After Disruption

The collation of results for the Kuje Area Council chairmanship election resumed on Sunday following a disruption caused by hoodlums on Saturday. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted the collation at the Soka Kuje center, with heavy security presence.

Haruna Jatau, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleged that there was overvoting in the Gudun Karya Ward and objected to the results presented by Zubairu Moham, the collation officer. Jatau claimed that there were breaches in two polling units, specifically in Zagabutu and Huni Villages, where manual accreditation was used instead of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

The APC rejected the election results from Gudun Karya, asserting that BVAS was not utilized across the ward. Additionally, reports emerged that poll officials in Huni Village were allegedly coerced by thugs loyal to a political party to alter the election results under duress, although these results were later corrected to reflect the figures captured by BVAS.

Abubakar Dambu, the INEC resident electoral commissioner, supervised the process and urged the APC representatives to submit their complaints in writing.
