INEC Confirms 8:30 AM Start for FCT Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will begin at 8:30 AM on February 21, 2026. Samuel Bassei, the head of voter education and public relations for INEC in FCT, provided this assurance during an interview.

He emphasized INEC's commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections, stating that measures have been put in place to ensure that polling starts on time. Bassei noted that personnel and materials have already been transported overnight to prevent any delays in the commencement of the elections.

This initiative aims to significantly reduce delays and guarantee that polling begins as stipulated in the guidelines.
