INEC Confirms Real-Time Election Results Transmission

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, announced that election results in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will be transmitted in real-time from polling units using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

This assurance was given during an interview in Abuja on Tuesday, where he assessed the preparedness of the electoral offices in three area councils: Kuje, Gwagwalada, and Bwari. He expressed confidence in their readiness, reporting that Kuje is 99.9% ready, Gwagwalada 90.8%, and Bwari 100% ready for the elections scheduled for February 21, 2026.

Prof. Amupitan emphasized that there would be no excuses for electoral malpractice and highlighted the importance of restoring public confidence in the electoral process.

He assured that all necessary materials would be in place, and the commission is committed to conducting credible elections while addressing voter apathy and ensuring security for voters and staff.
