FCT Police Commissioner Orders Personnel Mental Assessments

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ahm Sanusi, has initiated a comprehensive mental and psychological assessment of police personnel to strengthen discipline and welfare, as well as operational efficiency. This directive was communicated during an emergency meeting held on Thursday, where Sanusi emphasized the need for the highest professional standards in discharging police duties.

The assessment will commence on May 4, 2026, targeting junior officers to enhance their emotional stability and overall performance. SP Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer for the command, disclosed that the assessments will be conducted under the supervision of the medical director, Dr.

Ifayas Olabanji Akinola. Sanusi also warned against misconduct that could tarnish the image of the Nigeria Police Force and reiterated the importance of adhering to human rights laws.

Senior officers were instructed to ensure compliance and report any misconduct among their subordinates, with a caution that they would be held vicariously liable.
