APC Defends Wike's Right to Support Any Candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC), through its spokesman Felix Morka, affirmed that Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State and a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has the constitutional right to support any candidate in the upcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) elections. Morka emphasized that Wike's involvement is a reflection of his freedom as a citizen of Nigeria, dismissing criticisms surrounding his endorsement of an APC candidate.

This endorsement comes amid controversies within the PDP, particularly concerning the withdrawal of two PDP chairmanship candidates, Julius Adamu Bwari and Zadna Dantani, from the race, which has been described as an anti-democratic action. Morka rejected claims that Wike's actions were part of a coordinated APC strategy, asserting that they are a fundamental exercise of political rights.

Additionally, President Bola Tinubu commended the role of the FCT minister in the APC's recent electoral victories in Rivers State.
