PDP Candidate Withdraws for APC Rival Ahead of Elections

Julius Adamu, the chairmanship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the Bwari Area Council, has officially withdrawn his candidacy in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hon. Christoph Zakka Maikalangu.

This decision was announced on February 18, 2026, just days before the scheduled area council elections on February 21, 2026. Hon.

Zadna Dantani, the latest PDP chairmanship candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council, also made a similar decision to step down, citing the intervention of the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike. Dantani expressed gratitude for the support received and emphasized that his withdrawal was voluntary, made after thorough consultations with family and relevant stakeholders.

He submitted a formal letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to confirm his withdrawal, urging supporters to back Hon. Christoph Zakka Maikalangu in the upcoming elections.
