PDP Candidate Withdraws to Support APC in FCT Elections

Zadna Dantani, a chairmanship candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), announced on Thursday that he has withdrawn from the race to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Christoph Maikalangu. This decision follows a directive from Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who emphasized the importance of promoting unity over rivalry in the upcoming elections.

Dantani's withdrawal is part of a broader strategy to support APC candidates in the FCT area council elections scheduled for February 21, 2026. He confirmed that he submitted a formal notification to the Independent National Electoral Commission regarding his withdrawal.

This move mirrors a previous decision by Julius Adamu, another PDP chairmanship candidate in the Bwari Area Council, who also stepped down to back APC candidate Joshua Musa. The elections will feature six chairmanship contests and 62 councillorship slots across various councils in the FCT.
