PDP's Olawepo-Hashim Declares FCT a Stronghold

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, the presidential aspirant for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), stated that the FCT continues to be a stronghold for the PDP, despite the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning five out of six area council chairmanship contests in the recent elections. In a statement made on Thursday, Olawepo-Hashim addressed PDP stalwarts during a meeting in Abuja, where he reviewed the election outcomes across the six area councils.

He argued that the APC's victory is misleading, attributing it to long-time PDP members switching allegiance. He emphasized the need for the PDP to focus on grassroots mobilization and authentic leadership built on trust and popular support.

The meeting included PDP chairmen from the six area councils, ward chairmen, and members of the state executive committee. Ismail Dogara, the PDP chairman, moved a motion to reaffirm support for Olawepo-Hashim's 2027 presidential aspiration, which was seconded by Isa Dobi, a member of the PDP board of trustees.
