ActionAid Reports Tampering in FCT Area Council Elections

Andrew Mamedu, the Country Director of ActionAid, expressed concerns regarding the recent FCT area council elections, stating that many result sheets were tampered with. He made these remarks during an interview on Arise Television's morning show on Monday, emphasizing the need for Nigerians to mount pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve the transparency of the electoral process.

The elections saw the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning five area councils, including AMAC, Bwari, Kwali, Kuje, and Abaji, while the People's Democratic Party (PDP) secured victory in Gwagwalada. In a separate development, the African Action Congress (AAC) formally rejected a statement from INEC, alleging widespread manipulation and voter suppression, particularly in the Kwali area council, where they claimed hundreds of voters were disenfranchised due to INEC's failure to account for permanent voter cards.
