FCT Smart School Initiative Enhances Learning in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory's Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) is advancing education through a smart school initiative in Karshi, Abuja, which integrates technology into learning environments. During a familiarization visit on Monday, UBEB Executive Chairman Florence Wenegiem discussed the initiative's role in improving educational outcomes.

The school, led by Principal Ado Murtala, features cutting-edge classrooms and modern science laboratories, significantly enhancing learning experiences. The initiative is supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), which plays a crucial role in developing school facilities, including a content development studio and internet subscriptions.

Despite facing challenges such as inadequate water supply and electricity, the school has been recognized as the third-best among six KOICA-supported smart schools for 2025. Wenegiem emphasized the need for community ownership and collaboration with non-governmental organizations to address operational challenges, stating that the government alone cannot resolve all issues in the education sector.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is committed to improving the educational delivery system in the region.
